Primary School Curriculum

At our Primary School in Ibiza, learners are immersed in the Spanish national curriculum, which is delivered in both English and Spanish, unlike other schools whose main language of instruction is Catalan. This ensures students receive extensive preparation to excel in their future studies and careers in all of Spain and abroad.

Primary Subjects

Primary children study maths, four languages (Spanish, English, Catalan, and German), and sciences. They also receive engaging lessons in physical education, robotics, chess and arts (music, arts and crafts, drama and dance). In Spanish and Catalan classes, students develop their constructive imagination by reading and attending our Creative Writing Workshops.

Robotics & Technology

In Years 1 and 2 of Primary, students continue their introduction to robotics and programming through the Bee-Bot. This robot is the ideal resource to teach them the first stages of coding, helping learners understand what algorithms are and how to use them in basic programmes. From Year 3 onwards, students explore Lego WeDo from Lego Robotics to advance their knowledge of technology and robotics. Throughout Primary School, students use iPads periodically in different subjects. In sixth grade, we have a one-to-one iPad programme in which students have their own device.

Languages in Our Primary School

At our bilingual Primary School in Ibiza, students receive instruction in both English and Spanish. Subjects such as Social Science, Natural Science, and Arts and Crafts are taught in English, while other subjects are delivered in Spanish.

In addition to their regular subjects, students have dedicated language lessons in Spanish, Catalan, English, and German, fostering their multilingual skills. They receive daily one-hour English lessons and can further enhance their proficiency through stimulating conversation sessions with English assistants. German is offered once a week for students in Years 1 to 4, increasing to two hours per week in Years 5 and 6. All language lessons are taught by native-speaking teachers, ensuring a high-quality language learning experience.

Language Certifications

We aim to develop students' skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in these languages and prepare them to excel in official language exams. These include the Cambridge English Language examinations for Primary (Young Learners in Year 3, KET in Year 5 and preparation for PET in Year 6) and the Goethe Institut German exams, all of which are taken at our school.

Our Dedicated Primary Teachers

Additional Services at Primary School

Early Classroom

The Primary School teaching schedule is from 9 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm. Our Primary School offers an early classroom service from 7:45 to 8:45 for children to attend engaging supervised activities before classes start, including reading, playing chess and other games. Parents who require this service may bring their child to this classroom where they will be constantly overseen by our attentive school staff.

Lunch Service

Primary students have access to our healthy, daily home-cooked lunch service in the dining hall from 1 to 3 pm upon request.
