Take Your Skills to the Next Level

At Mestral, we seek to enrich the educational experience of all children by providing them with engaging activities to develop their skills outside of the core curriculum. Students from Nursery to the Baccalaureate years have access to exciting, age-appropriate extracurricular opportunities to learn, make new friends and explore new interests and talents, spanning sports, arts, academics and personal development. All our extracurricular activities take place on our campus.

A Holistic Learning Experience with Diverse Enriching Activities

The extracurricular programme at Mestral aims to foster discipline, endurance, healthy habits, leadership, teamwork, and tolerance while teaching students to interact with other children and share ideas and games.

By taking part in these different opportunities, learners develop their self-confidence and creativity alongside communication and motor skills, all of which are extremely useful abilities for their future personal and academic success.

Our extracurricular activities include the following options:

  • Nursery – Arts & Crafts (in English), Play-based Physical Activities.
  • Primary School – Rollerskating (initiation and advanced), Volleyball, Surfskating, Taekwondo, Robotics with Lego (Years 4, 5 and 5), Arts & Crafts.
  • Secondary School & Baccalaureate Years – Robotics (ESO only), Volleyball.

Arts and Crafts is exclusively taught in English for a full language immersion. In this extracurricular activity, Nursery and Primary children learn to express themselves through art, socialise with their peers and give free rein to their imagination to create their unique artistic pieces.

(Roller)Skating is a fun and challenging physical activity that offers students many benefits, from promoting healthy blood circulation to improving aerobic endurance and strength. It is a physically demanding sport that reinforces the leg muscles, from the thighs down to the ankles. In addition, standing or rolling on skates helps to enhance children’s overall balance, even when they are wearing normal shoes. Skating requires a lot of focus, which will, in turn, improve students’ ability to concentrate on their studies, translating to exceptional academic performance. At Colegio Mestral, we offer two ability levels for this activity: initiate and advanced.

Taekwondo is a globally respected Korean martial art that focuses on achieving physical and mental balance, which is vital for students' overall well-being. This self-defence and combat sport improves muscle strength and cardiovascular endurance, increasing our Primary children's elasticity, agility and flexibility while developing their coordination and balance skills.

In addition to Mestral's curricular robotics lessons, students in Grades 3 to 6 of Primary School and those in the first year of ESO have the opportunity to participate in engaging Robotics extracurriculars. This activity develops their computational thinking and other cognitive skills with the help of educational robots. Children learn from mistakes and see them as an opportunity to improve, developing their resilience.

Surfskating is a form of skateboarding that emulates the movements and feel of surfing, helping to improve balance, fine motor skills and coordination.
