Colegio Mestral. Nuevas tecnologias

In the last few years, Mestral college has placed significant weight on the use of new technologies in the classroom.

Therefore, we have opted for an educational project that uses an ipad as the main transverse tool to attain skills. More specifically, the one to one project (for which each student has their own ipad) is set up in the 6th year in primary and in secondary, enables technology to be integrated into teaching process in a natural way, fostering co-operative learning and making the students the true central figure.

As part of this project, the college has an ipad cart which is used every week in specific subjects in nursery, primary and in college.

Every classroom in the college is equipped with laptops, projectors, digital whiteboards and Apple TV.

Additionally, the college has an information technology room, equipped with the latest generation of laptops.

Being eager to incorporate new technologies into the classroom, we have implemented Lego Robotics project in the 3rd and 6th year in primary, secondary and college. The use of robotic education in the classroom stimulates logical – mathematical and special intelligence and the students’ ability to pay attention and concentrate as well as introducing them to the world of programming. For this we have acquired a classroom finished with the educational resources needed for LEGO ® and our teachers have been trained as LEGO ® specialists having carried out several courses that support its use as an educational material and how to get the most of it within the field of education. It has been a project that has enthused our students and in which they have obtained great results.

We introduce robotics and programming through the use of Bee-Bot in nursery and first years of primary. This simple robot is an ideal means of demonstrating the initial stages of programming, assisting the understanding in the very youngest children of the concept of algorithms and how to use them in simple programmes.
